Description
Very Rare Private Press of 2 Vinyl LP's ( 33 rpm late-fifties?) - Handel - Alexander Balus (possibly abridged - i do not know) . April Cantelo plays Cleopatra , Aspasis - Ann Wood , Balus - Alfred Deller et al . London Choral Society with Boris Ord - Harpsichord, Charles Spinks - Organ , Kalmar Chamber Orchestra conducted by John Tobin. Now the labels state 'faulty ' i don't know the context for this . I've played them through - they both have considerable marking coverage , fingerprints , 'greasy areas' . The actual audio (mono?) quality is great but the recording is hampered by ticks, clicks and on your equipment you May get jumps . Underlying crackles are not too bad although they're present. . Given the historical "importance" of this BBC broadcast, and the fact this is almost certainly THE only set in existence ? ..and the fact the labels state "Faulty" ? mind you.. considering its faults - stated above - it must go for sale - i do not have a use for it. (private press, no company stated , no matrix numbers, no return ) in two old generic brown paper sleeves
