Description
Here's a great release on the EmArcy label (MG-36006). Helen Merrill's self-titled masterpiece. Original jacket with blue print on back. Original blue deep groove label with small drummer logo and silver rim around label (see close-up photos of labels below).
Condition - The jacket looks pretty nice except the back and edges have some age staining and there is a very light bit of creasing at the lower left corner only visible upon very close inspection. No writing, no splits, no tears. The jacket grades at strong VG+. The record shows few signs of use. I don't see spindle marks on the label. There are some paper scuffs on the vinyl and other very light marks from handling. Side two is very shiny, but side one is a bit duller (see close-up label photos below). The dullness does not seem to be from use, it might be a factory issue or an aging or storage issue. Side one grades at VG++ by sight. Side two grades at NM- by sight. I listened to both sides and they sounded close to how they looked. Side one had light but fairly persistent background static, but little other noise. Side one listening grade is VG+, maybe a little better. Side two sounded great with just a little background static here and there. Side two listening grade is NM-.

Regarding grading - I try to grade by Goldmine standards - Mint (M), Near Mint (NM), Near Mint Minus (NM-), Very Good Plus (VG+), Very Good (VG), Very Good Minus (VG-), Good (G). I do not use the grade Mint on unsealed, opened records, discs or tapes. I reserve that designation for sealed items only. The highest grade I give opened, unsealed items is NM. Grading here is strictly by sight unless specifically noted in the condition section.
