Isolated and often neglected in Ike Turner's discography, Get It-Get It! is by most sides his (and Tina's) first cohesive effort, equally divided between soul and blues numbers, backed by a full fledged horn section and selective in repertoire.

In fact, selection is the most important issue Ike has faced in organizing (for the first time it seems he actually did it) this record: most of the songs were already recorded for other albums and were re-recorded (I Can't Believe) or even sometimes rewritten (the title track, a rewriting of If I Can't Be First); even covers are rewritten (I Believe is a 'masked' version of Dust My Broom).

The performance quality, also, is superior to Ike & Tina's standards: cohesion is sensible in the sound's blend with Tina Turner's raucous voice dominating the pulsant brass background surfaced by Ike's concrete guitar work. Tighter in soul numbers (the best ones, with Strange leading), loose in the blues, there's a dominating vibe that never lets the listener down; the incisive briefness of the record (less than half an hour) concurs at creating the genuine and spontaneous feel overall perceivable in the listening experience.The whole set sounds like black magic!

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD+++.

-         Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.   (nothing significant)

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine   (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY)

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant)
