IKE TURNER - A BLACK MAN'S SOUL LP
Released in 1969 on the Pompeii label out of Broadway New York. This is a must have for any serious Soul, Breaks, collector. The entire album is instrumental soul, with a sound that very much defined the era from which it was released. 1969 is considered by many to be one of the greatest years in music history. With track titles like - Thinking Black, Black Beauty, Ghetto Funk, Blacks' Alley, Black Angel, Getting Nasty, Funky Mule, Philly Dog, Scotty Souling, Up hard, Nuttin' up, Freedom Sound. Many of your favourite hiphop tracks were sampled from this album - Jurassic 5's Concrete Schoolyard. Many different open breaks to choose from - all perfect for chopping, or looping up old-school. Either way, this record is a must have. Listen to the sample below.
