Description
WOW!! This is a GENUINE copy of the most counterfeited record in the world. For every genuine copy, there are probably 10,000 fakes so a little knowledge goes a long way when identifying a real copy. I have scrutinized this and it passes every single test which I will detail below.
For sale is a very rare AUTHENTIC “VARIANT 1” Introducing The Beatles disc and sleeve complete with almost never seen original correct white Vee Jay “Gospel” advertising inner. This is The Beatles very first pressing of their very first American LP from 1963! Vee Jay did not know what a Gold Mine they had in the Beatles as sales were initially poor sellers in the USA so they (probably very regretfully a year later) turned over the rights to Capitol.
Info:
Introducing The Beatles - 100% guaranteed GENUINE version 1 column back Mono with Love Me Do and P.S. I Love You which were quickly replaced due to copyright issues instead of the much more common version two second pressing with Ask Me Why and Please Please Me instead. I have handled several and know how to spot a counterfeit with ease. Passes all genuine “tests” on both sleeve and disc. George’s shadow is clearly visible, passes the “Honey Test” with flying colors and most importantly, the 1/4” inside flap is exactly as should be which no counterfeit possesses. Genuine copies have 1/4” on the rear inside flap inside the sleeve which attaches the front of the sleeve. This is never found on counterfeits. There is slight wear which again is very common but very little unwanted marks and NO writing on front or rear which are typically very common flaws with these genuine 1st pressing sleeves. Mostly legible spine “Title- Introducing The Beatles fully readable...slight wear around the catalogue number. The disc has the correct matrix runout for the Monarch (Santa Monica) pressing. No known counterfeits contain any stamping at all so that alone is pretty much alone by itself is enough to identify a guaranteed original sleeve. The labels contain The Beatles ABOVE the spindle hole which is the first and biggest giveaway of a counterfeit pressing with the Oval Vee Jay design and rainbow color ban which clearly displays the color green and seamlessly blends one color into the next while counterfeits are almost always very easily identified by the cheap knockoff color band which is missing the green and a counterfeit rainbow band is quite easy to spot.
Again, I’ve handled several genuine and counterfeit sleeves and offer a 100% money back return return guarantee on this copy. No question this is the real deal.
Matrix/runout info:
SIDE ONE:
63-3402 SM triangle -5702 (etched) with MR within a circle (stamped- indicating a desirable Monarch Santa Monica pressing.)
SIDE TWO:
63-3402 Triangle-5702-X SM (etched) MR (circled and STAMPED)
Sleeve:: VG to VG- 5” to 6” ‘light ‘cut’ along bottom of front sleeve. General wear as expected on these copies- of the 3 genuine copies I’ve owned, this is the nicest I’ve handled. These were well loved and played but see pics as always. Would grade VG+ were it not for the fairly light wear and shallow “slice” along the bottom of the front.
Labels: VG to VG+ Evidence of play with some marks and light scratches on labels. Little wear around the spindle hole which are almost always terribly worn and scratched. These are the desirable Monarch Santa Monica labels which do not contain Long Playing or MICROGROOVE on either label. Again, the name The Beatles appears directly underneath the Introducing The Beatles title and is ABOVE the spindle hole which is then quickest way to spot a fake.
Inner Sleeve: RARE original proper white “Gospel” Advertising inner which is in VG condition due only to some side splits but is otherwise very nice with light creasing.
AUDIOPHILE BUYERS MAY REQUEST A PLAY CHECK - even with a significant amount of scratching, these original Vee-Jay pressings are on thick vinyl with deep grooves and usually play beautifully with a bright crisp sound and much better mastering than the subpar pressings that Capitol later produced in my opinion.
