“There is a lot to be said for destiny.  Regarding Irma Thomas, there is just this to say: she was destined to hit the top.  But this destiny took its time.  A few years ago she had a big hit entitled “It’s Raining” – but it was a big hit only on a regional basis.  Practically everybody in New Orleans (and, of course, nearby Panchatla, Louisiana, her home town) as well as Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston had heard it and had bought it, but what about the rest of the country? . . .

Destiny wasn’t ready yet.

Next Irma had another hit, this one entitled “Ruler of My Heart” – but again only in the same areas.

Destiny was still playing its game.

A couple of years passed.  During this time Irma was working very successfully – in the same area of the South where her talent had been recognized through the hits.

Then, as you may have already anticipated, destiny finally stepped in in the form of a song – the song that did it for Irma, that became a huge national hit and placed Irma on top, where she has deserved to be for quite a while.  It’s interesting to note that the title of this hit song was “Wish Someone Would Care” – another touch of destiny; she made a wish, now everybody cares!  The words “Wish Someone Would Care” convey a powerful idea, a message which has been stated in many great songs.

For this album, Irma has chosen several of the finest of them.  This, then, is Irma Thomas at her best, singing songs at their best.”

The LP is in Very Good Condition with some surface marks and surface scratches

It plays well

The Sleeve is in Very Good Condition with a tiny amount of scuffing, slight laminate creasing and very slight record rim outline
