Description
IRON MAIDEN Somewhere in Time 1986 Capitol 1st Press DMM STERLING SJ12524 VG+
Somewhere in Time marked a turning point for Iron Maiden — the band's first album built around guitar synthesizers, layered into the same galloping rhythms and Bruce Dickinson's soaring vocals that defined their run through the 1980s. "Wasted Years" and "Stranger in a Strange Land" became setlist staples that still anchor Maiden shows today, and the album went platinum in the US.
This is an original US first pressing on Capitol Records, SJ-12524.
Mastered at Sterling Sound, New York, using Direct Metal Mastering (DMM). The lacquer carries a Z1 cut designation on both sides — the master lacquer for this release, not a recut.
Pressed through Allied Record Company and Specialty Records Corporation, sister WEA-Manufacturing plants that frequently shared mothers and stampers on the same release during this era.
Cover art and concept by Derek Riggs and Rod Smallwood, built around Eddie reimagined as a cybernetic soldier moving through a rain-soaked future city — one of the most detailed pieces in the band's catalog.
Blue-toned Iron Maiden Capitol label, standard for the original 1986 pressing.
Original printed inner sleeve, with the full lyrics and band photo layout intact.
Both sides carry a hand-etched runout joke from the mastering session — Side A reads "IT WERE SO LOUD," Side B reads "EVEN QUIET BITS WERE LOUD." Still in its original factory shrink, opened but retained on the jacket.
