This one is an original mono pressing of Jackie McLean 's 4, 5 and 6. Prestige Records PRLP-7048. The is an original issue from Prestige Records, not a reissue version.  Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder with "RVG" etched on the dead wax of both sides.  Deep Groove on both labels.  Very hard to find and is one of the most expensive Prestige LP in terms of price on the collectible market.  My most favorite Jackie McLean's.  For me, this album is among the best hard bob LPs ever recorded.


Jackie McLean (alto saxophone), Mal Waldron (piano), Doug Watkins (bass), Art Taylor (drums), Donald Byrd (trumpet), Hank Mobley (tenor saxophone). 


I've listened through many times and grade it VG++. Under the bright light, the vinyl has some non-feelable scratches, hairlines, and scuffs.  Some spindle marks on labels. It plays smooth and beautiful with some tics and pops from normal use and age.  Little surface noises during some passage, hardly any effect on the music and not distracting.  No jumps or skips after listening through many times. 


The laminated cover is shiny, clean, well maintained. No stains. No tape. Minor corner dents. A very clean jacket for a 64-year-old album. The only drawback is its 3.5 inches split at the upper right corner (see pictures).  Thus, I graded it only VG+, otherwise, it should have been NM.


The record is play graded as well as visually. I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. 


My grading is as follows: M (perfectly like new), NM, VG++, VG+, VG, VG-, G, G-. You will be satisfied.
