UK RCA (SF 7926) SECOND PRESSING (but the very first on the RCA Orange Label) OF JEFFERSON AIRPLANE'S PSYCH MASTERPIECE "After Bathing At Baxter's" IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION (I don't think this copy has EVER been played) DELIVERING SENSATIONAL AUDIO (ON MY SYSTEM - AT A LOUD VOLUME!) PRESSED WITH THE ORANGE RCA LABELS THIS IS A VERY EARLY COPY PROBABLY DATING FORM AROUND 1972 AS IT HAS THE EARLIEST SECOND PRESS MATRIX NUMBERS ENDING IN 1E: URPS - 5524 - 1E / URPS - 5525 - 1E
AND THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE NOW FULLY LAMINATED SLEEVE (the first sleeve was laminated on the front only)
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL RCA WHITE DIE-CUT INNER SLEEVE

There was ten months between Surrealistic Pillow and After Bathing at Baxter's, and what a difference ten months made.
Bookending the year that psychedelia emerged in full bloom as a freestanding musical form, After Bathing at Baxter's was among the purest of rock's psychedelic albums, offering few concessions to popular taste and none to the needs of AM radio, which made it nowhere remotely as successful as its predecessor, but it was also a lot more daring.
The album also showed a band in a state of ferment, as singer/guitarist Marty Balin largely surrendered much of his creative input in the band he'd founded, and let Paul Kantner and Grace Slick dominate the songwriting and singing on all but one cut ("Young Girl Sunday Blues").
The group had found the preceding album a little too perfect, and not fully representative of the musicians or what they were about, and they were determined to do the music their way on Baxter's
Essentially, After Bathing at Baxter's was the group's attempt to create music that captured what the psychedelic experience sounded and felt like to them from the inside; on a psychic level, it was an introverted exercise in music-making and a complete reversal of the extroverted experience in putting together Surrealistic Pillow.
Toward that end, they were working "without a net," for although Al Schmitt was the nominal producer, he gave the group the freedom to indulge in any experimentation they chose to attempt, effectively letting them produce themselves.

LABELS: MINT - clean, bright and unmarked with no spindle traces or signs of use - possibly completely unplayed
VINYL Visual: MINT - the vinyl surfaces retain their original deep, like-new glossy sheen and are completely unmarked - beautiful record
VINYL Audio: Plays beautifully throughout with a crystal clear, rich and detailed sound - the cut on this second pressing is quieter than the first (but still extremely impressive) and even when cranked up to a very loud volume there are no scratches, no sticks or jumps, no surface noise and barely any clicks (one or two (literally) which are background at one point and really hardly worth a mention). The sound quality is simply sensational throughout and the whole LP plays to just about the highest possible standard with all frequencies bright and clear, no groove-wear and no distortion. Very strictly graded a strong NEAR MINT for audio (it's practically flawless) this is a fantastic copy and they really don't come much better - this is west coat psychedelia at the absolute peak of its powers - stunning LP
SLEEVE: The second issue fully laminated cover (the first sleeve was laminated on the front only) is also in practically untouched condition. The laminate has a beautiful deep, glass-like glossy sheen with only the lightest of storage rubbing and all the edges are crisp, sharp and square with all text on the spine clear and bold - easily NEAR MINT
