Description

JERRY SOLOMON - PAST THE 20TH CENTURY - FOUNTAIN LP - INSERTS, PHOTO - MONO - PRIVATE PRESSING - 1971 ?...

LP comes in a generic plain white jacket in addition to the one pictured above with a review of the album.

The record has been played and it does have several scuffs... Both sides play thru with some surface noise and there are 5 or 6 skips throughout the lp ... We'd grade the overall condition of the record as "fair" with wear and tear on the "A" side label and light tears on "B" side label...

Included with the LP are (5) 8 1/2" x 11" photo inserts in plastic covers, booklet, and photo, all from Jerry Solomon's personal collection :

1. Fake "Time Magazine" cover story with Jerry pictured... 2.  Jerry with Priscilla Presley... 3. Jerry at Palms Jr. High and Farmers Market karaoke... 4. Color pix of Jerry at Farmers Market karaoke 10/15/2005...  5.  Fake pix of Jerry (head pasted over Elvis photo) and screaming girls...  6.  Thirteen page booklet with spiral binding titled "Questions you never thought to ask # 5" by Jerry Solomon... 7.  4" x 6" color pic of Jerry...

From Vernon Joynson's "Fuzz, Acid, & Flowers Revisited" : "Originally from Nebraska, Solomon was based in the Los Angeles area in the sixties... It is thought that he spent some time in a mental hospital, which may explain the odd character of his recordings... primitive melodies amateurishly sung against an eerie backing for the most part... His records are sought after by collectors of the very strange"...

Regarding this LP :

From "Acid Archives" - Out of this world "real people" fringe excursion from a lovable eccentric who sold his records to passers-by on the street in L.A. Most of the songs consist of of primitive half-sung melodies over an unnerving rhythmic backdrop of mechanical guitar strumming and what sounds like someone dragging a drum stick back and forth across a cheap xylophone of the kind children play...

A few tracks could be described as "rock n' roll" with a full band setting, given an incredibly strange edge by Jerry's bizarre, slightly slurred vocal style, which may appeal to fans of Hasil Adkins and Stud Cole...

Anyone can hear a sample of Jerry Solomon's "work" by doing a search on youtube...

We don't usually list records in this condition, but this one generally goes for considerably more than our minimum bid and that's without all the bonus inserts....
