All the wonderful elements of Bob Ludwig’s trademark mastering style are here: incredible clarity and balanced channel separation, vivid and spacious “ambience” sound, as well as wide dynamic and frequency range of the sound spectrum. As is almost always the case with Bob Ludwig’s masterings, the Bob Ludwig-mastered pressings of this album are CONSIDERABLY rarer than the regular, non-Ludwig copies of this album.

The importance of this phenomenal album – recorded on New Year’s eve in the legendary Fillmore East auditorium - cannot be overestimated. For many people (yours truly included), this was Jimi's finest hour, and a true, befitting swan song. Easily one of top-20 most important Rock albums ever recorded and just as easily one of top-5 greatest live performances ever captured on vinyl.

We should note this: in eight years of selling on eBay, this – believe it or not – is the ONLY THE FOURTH TIME we are offering this album (we did offer two Record Club pressings previously). Finding this album on the original label and in anywhere near `near mint` condition has become amazingly difficult. In addition, Capitol pressed most copies of this album on the vinyl which, for some reason, was susceptible to wear and scuffing (this is something that the albums by The Band and Quicksilver Messenger Service also suffered from). Finding a nice copy of this album is a truly a lost cause. We present here as nice a copy as you are likely to find.

Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)             Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
