Description
This is a superb early Polydor pressing (2657 012) of
Jimi Hendrix' 1968 masterpiece, Electric Ladyland, packaged in a superb
fully laminated gatefold sleeve that still bristles with newness when
you open it.
The gorgeous gatefold easily merits its EX* grading with virtually no
creasing, no half-moons, tears, writing or anything else. It is
perfectly flat, with true sharp corners all round, perfect edges with no
wear of any kind (no shelfwear at all), lovely strong opening edges,
vibrant colours and practically perfect lamination (just a slight bit of
laminate lift top right). This is a particularly strong sleeve, not
floppy at all, with a perfectly straight and unworn spine which you
could almost class as a wide spine. About the only thing you can fault
on this lovely gatefold is a little graze along the rear sleeve, which
ends in a small loss of laminate. This is a particularly early Polydor
sleeve, shown by its reference to the concurrent availability of
cassette and 8-Track versions of the album.
All four sides show very few signs of use. Even under unforgiving
halogen light you can hardly see any spindle marks on the labels, and
there are no marks whatsoever on the vinyl. This matched set of discs has
clearly been very carefully handled and stored, and seen very little
use. Each disc easily earns a grading of EX+.
Overall then this is a superb pressing of this incomparable Jimi Hendrix
double representing a rare opportunity to obtain such a well cared for
example of this beautiful blissed out blues/pych set.
