Description
JAYNE MANSFIELD
"AS THE CLOUDS DRIFT BY / SUEY "
on the LONDON 'AMERICAN' RECORDS DEMO cat# HL 10147 vintage ORIGINAL
FIRST ISSUE DEMO COPY!!!
RARE ORIGINAL HISTORIC UK 45 GEM.
One of the most sought-after, rare Hendrix related singles
Ed Chalpin had singled out this young guitar-man he was introduced to by Curtis Knight. They'd played together, and Chalpin being a shrewd business minded fellow signed him to a management contract while snagging him for a little job he had backing Jayne Mansfield - back in 1965.
On the top side 'As Clouds Drift By', Jimi plays the bass guitar (adeptly, as he would!), and for the flip side he's in his familiar role on guitar, with a choppy chord that totally suits the edge-y sexy humour that related well for the Playboy siren!
Why it took another couple of years to see release might be down to Jimi's new found fame with The Experience....but I'd tend to think this single was a bit too obscure for this now-famous connection to be made in 1967. So, it makes for an interesting moment from Jimi's career.
No better way to own this piece of Hendrix history really, than on this lovely 45.
Why plump for the 12" re-issue if you collect Hendrix?
The vinyl is MINT, full shine!!
The Lables grade MINT- condition, clean, bright, barely played and only a Demo issue stamp from the record company on Side 1.
Company cover included!
A nice FIRST PRESSING AND RELEASE copy
Don't miss this rare copy of a VERY scarce issue!
