LP : Joe Haider Trio - Café De Pyrénnées

Original German private pressing from 1973 on KICK RECORDS, H/A 1012, OBH-Verlag ( = Otto B. Hartmann, the producer), Starnberg ( = 25 KM away from Munich), fully laminated cover. Rare LP that does not show up too often, probably only ca. 300 copies have been pressed. Awesome record from the beginning to the end, excellent Rhodes by Haider, outstanding tunes predominantly in the modal vein, soulful grooves, great percussion- & bass-work and more.

You can listen to all tracks (except Kollektiv) on youtube. On the CD-re-issue there's bonus track from the same 1973 recording-session, called “Muchacha”. This track plus 3 of the other tracks from the “Café des Pyrénnées”-LP are included on another Joe Haider album wich I offer in my current auctions, the rare 1979 release on CALIG called “Joe Haider And His Friends“.

For safety reasons I will place the record in an extra plain white cover for shipping, hence the weight of more than 500 Gram.

Condition: I have listened carefully and completely to the record on my REGA PLANAR 9 w. EINSTEIN MC and also my LINN AXIS w. DENON MC. The record looks ex-- to vg++ in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks vg+ under a very strong halogen lamp; there are several hairlines, some tiny superficial scuffs and a few tiny marks. Four of the tracks play in mint- to mint--, only the second track of each side plays different: on side 1 the 2nd track plays in ex, there are a few background-tics during the piano-intro; on side 2 the 2nd track plays in vg+, there is a slight crackling next to/behind the music in the quiet beginning, and there are a few minor background-tics plus some very few a little more prominent tics. Not really that serious on both tracks, plus 4 tracks in m-/m--, nevertheless: I will conservatively grade the playback overall as ex- to vg++.

The cover shows light shelfwear, all seams/spine are intact with just slight rub in a few spots, the lamination is basically intact except for in places of parts parallel to the edges/corners/opening where it is a little wrinkled/loose for a few millimeter in some spots, the front is fine with light ringwear in the upper part, the back shows some more ringwear but the white colour is otherwise fine, inside the cover there are some light age-spots parallel to the opening; overall strong vg (tendency more likely to vg+).

Zustand: Ich habe mir die LP sorgfältig und komplett auf meinen 2 Plattenspielern angehört (REGA PLANAR 9 mit EINSTEIN MC und LINN AXIS mit DENON MC). Die LP sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe ex-- bis vg++ aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht sie vg+ aus; es gibt hairlines, einige kleine oberflächliche Wischer und wenige kleinste marks. Vier der Titel spielen in mint- bis mint--, nur der jeweils zweite Titel auf beiden Seiten spielt anders: auf Seite 1 spielt der 2.Titel in ex, es gibt einige wenige Hintergrund-Tics während des Piano-Intros; auf Seite 2 spielt der 2.Titel in vg+, neben/hinter der Musik des ruhigen Anfangs ist etwas Hintergrundknistern, es gibt auch ein paar leisere Hintergrund-Tics und einige wenige mehr im Vordergrund stehende Tics. Alles nicht wirklich schwerwiegend, plus noch vier Tracks in m-/m--, dennoch: ich bewerte die LP konservativ/vorsichtig als akkustisch insgesamt in ex- bis vg++.

Das Cover hat leichte Lagerspuren, alle Kanten sind intakt mit nur leichtem Abrieb an einigen wenigen Stellen, die Laminierung ist im Wesentlichen intakt außer in Teilen der Gegend parallel zu den Kanten/Ecken/Einschub wo sie an einige Stellen für wenige Millimeter etwas runzelig/lose ist, die Vorderseite ist sehr schön erhalten mit nur leichtem Ringwear im oberen Bereich, die Rückseite hat mehr Ringwear hat das Weiß aber ansonsten schön erhalten, im Inneren sind parallel zum Einschub einige Altersflecken; insgesamt in wirklich sehr gutem vg (Tendenz eher zu vg+).

Alle Platten wurden professionell gereinigt, entweder von mir (Hannl Mikro) oder von den Vorbesitzern (Okki Nokki, Loricraft o.Ä.). Anschließend wurden sie nur wenige Male abgespielt bzw. nur einmal von mir zum Bewerten angehört (komplett oder in Ausschnitten). Optische Bewertung erfolgt in Tageslicht, in normalen Kunstlicht & unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe. Platten kommen mit neuer hochwertiger Innenhülle & in einer Schutzhülle. Bitte beachten: auch prof. gereinigte Platten können einige Staubpartikel haben; “eingefangen” während optischer & akkustischer Bewertung, Fotografieren oder den wenigen Abspielungen der Vorbesitzer.

Grading & Cleaning:

• all records have been cleaned on a professional record cleaning machine, either by me (Hannl Mikro) or by the pre-owners (Okki Nokki, Loricraft or the like). After cleaning the records have been played just a few times (or only once by me for playgrading)

• I playgrade each record (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, high-end Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN/ EMT TU-3 SFL (please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment)

• I also visually grade cleaned records in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

• only an unplayed record is mint, my highest grading for a used record is mint- . My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

• cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve

• pl. note: even pro cleaned records may have received some dust particles during visual-/play-grading, photographing or few pre-owner playbacks
