BLUE NOTE BLP-1577 "BLUE TRAIN" JOHN COLTRANE
Original First Pressing Blue Note Label with 47 WEST 63rd Address
This auction is for an original pressing, blue and white WEST 63rd NYC address Blue Note Records release of "BLUE TRAIN" by John Coltrane: BLP-1577, mono, "RVG" written on trail-off, "EAR" symbol, NO registry mark, and a deep groove around label. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC" appears on the cover. Released in 1957
The LP is not play graded but visually I would rate it a VG+ based on Goldmine standards: Disc has retained most of its original luster and looks beautiful. There are no visible scratches or marks. Some very light surface scuffs from sliding in and out of the sleeve. Very minimal spindle wear. The original jacket has fully intact glossy laminate front with no marks or writing. Light surface wear. Top seam has a beginning 3 1/2" split, while the title seam has a 2" split. Other edges look nice. There is some corner wear. Back cover also looks nice with mild wear but no marks, writing, or tears. Light toning of white areas. All in all this LP is wonderful for an original 50's Blue Note pressing. Record ships with non-original inner sleeve. No reserve!
