NEW THING AT NEWPORT

IMPULSE RECORDS # A 94

Very hard to find original White Label Promo pressing album.  The copy we are offering here is a Mono First Pressing, released in 1965.  Although Impulse did not use the word “promo” on their record labels, they did differentiate the promo pressings by using white labels (the commercially released LPs from this time period were on orange labels).  Both sides have VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax.

COVER: The thick gatefold cover has survived exceptionally well.  It doesn’t feel like the gatefold has ever been opened much more than halfway.  The laminate is not peeling up anywhere.  No seam splitting anywhere.  There are tiny dings on the right corners and one small and light ding on the front right edge near the top.  The laminate has a bit of surface wear but is still overall shiny and the color is brilliant.  Inside the gatefold looks great.  This jacket grades EX+.

VINYL: The only things keeping this record from grading VG+ are about a handful of scratches that can actually be felt on the grooves.  All are thin and the longest one that can be felt is less than 1 inch in length.  The LP is clean and retains quite a bit of its original glossy luster.
