Description

John Mayall Bluesbreakers 'A Hard Road' 1967 UK original vinyl album on the Decca red label, catalogue number LK 4853 (mono)

The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side One: ARL-7652-2A  1   H Side Two: ARL-7653-2A  1  UB

This is a heavy vinyl and it is not warped. Both sides of the record have quite a lot of surface scratches and bag marks. I can't feel any of them on Side One, but I can feel one of them , lightly, on Side Two. Side One plays remarkably cleanly with just a little surface sound most of the time and a bit of very light crackle during the quiet parts. Side Two has a little more surface sound than Side One, although it's still not very noticeable, and a few light ticks on tracks 2 & 3, but not many. Overall there is little lessening of the sound quality, which is very impressive. There are no sticks, no skips, no jumps, and I imagine that most people who want to listen to great Blues on vinyl will enjoy this.

The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have quite a few spindle lines, but no writing, no damage (there are two faint smudge marks at the top of the label on Side One, but they are small and barely noticeable).

The cover is a standard single sleeve, it is laminated on the front and spine, folding onto a flat back which is not laminated. There are a few short creases in the laminate on the front and one large one across the top right corner where the laminate has separated and a line of the print is missing - please see the photograph. The back is in pretty good shape, mainly clean but with a couple of marks near the top which imprint the top edge of the vinyl and the back of the crease mentioned on the front. These marks could probably be cleaned off with a pencil rubber. Overall it's a tidy sleeve, no seam splits or damage other than the one crease.

The spine is excellent, with just a few tiny crease splits and a little discolouration, but it is completely readable.

The inner sleeve is the original, it's discoloured and a bit wrinkled but still poly-lined and fully intact, no seam splits, no tears.

I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say that the cover is 'very good' and although the appearance of the vinyl probably only deserves 'good', the audio quality is at least 'very good' and probably a good deal better than that.

I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.

It will be packed in a record mailing box (cruciform) with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
