Description
Available here is a 12" vinyl LP by John Mayall with Eric Clapton / Blues Breakers. A mono incarnation, it was issued in the UK by Decca in 1966 and has the catalogue number L.K.4804. Believed 1st pressing or very early variant of a very collectible record. Features an unboxed Decca logo on the centre label and ''flipback'' cover design.
Identifiers
Side A - Stamped Matrix Runout - ARL-7297-1A - 1H
Side B - Stamped Matrix Runout - ARL-7298-1A - 1C
1H & 1C (1O?) as above, almost impossible to read but I believe that I’m correct.
KT purchase tax codes also stamped on both sides and just about visible.
Catalogue number on both sides of the sleeve is LK 4804 on the centre record label it’s L.K.4804.
Note - Discogs website appears to have a typo and is incorrect in suggesting that Side 1 should be stamped ARL-7291-1A. Matrix runouts should be as above - see other historic sales on Popsike. Any questions, feel free to ask.
Vinyl Condition - Very Good - The record is quite bright and clean, although close inspection will reveal a few light surface marks and a single minute scratch. Having listened to both sides, I can confirm that the sound is excellent - no jumping or sticking and almost no discernible background crackle/noise. There is a short run of light clicks corresponding to the small scratch but none others will be heard during the record. Additional spindle marks around the centre labels.
Sleeve Condition - Very Good (average from front & back panels) - Original outer sleeve with ''flipback'' design. Front panel is excellent with only very light signs of wear. Rear panel has a half-inch split by the top outer corner, with a small section of loss by the top inner corner. In addition, the mark of a previous owner will be found on the rear panel. No other seam splits or serious creasing Inner plain white poly-lined sleeve with creasing and a little discolouration - as issued, or so I believe. Please see all of my images of this item.
History - John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers were named after this successful album which featured Eric Clapton, John McVie and Hughie Flint amongst their initial ranks. They were to have a profound influence on the early British 'Electric Blues' scene. A stereo version of this album did not appear until 1969.

It is not my intention to profit from postage. If possible I use good clean recyclable material but I also buy bubble wrap, brown paper, packing tape and glue and all items are well wrapped and protected before posting. Items are also weighed and postage calculated before I list at auction and a small percentage of the charge does go towards packing costs. See About Me for further general despatch information.
