Say ~ John Mayer

John Mayer's third studio album Continuum follows the multi-platinum Room For Squares (2001) and Heavier Things (2003) and marks his first turn as producer. It is his most soulful, cohesive collection yet and he says it's no accident that this project is where all of his efforts, his potential and his disparate influences fully come together. Continuum represents maturity, both musically and thematically for Mayer who knew this album would tackle larger ideas than those that defined his previous albums. "This record is infinitely playable," he says. "I built so many corner into these songs I cannot wait to play them live."

TRY LIVE IN CONCERT - JOHN MAYER TRIO - DOUBLE LP SET

Contains Covers of Jimi Hendrix & Ray Charles Tunes "Wait Until Tomorrow" & "I Got A Woman"!

On the heels of a pair of multi-platinum albums and three Grammy Awards, John Mayer has stripped things down to the bone by forming the John Mayer Trio with drummer Steve Jordan (Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones) and bassist Pino Palladino (the Who, Jeff Beck). The trio's sold-out fall tour has now been documented with a live album, John Mayer Trio Live. The recording from the House of Blues in Chicago includes both Mayer originals and the Trio's interpretations of cover songs.

Mayer and his cohorts use words like "natural" and "organic" when talking about the way the group came together, and for good reason. The three players broke the ice, performing Jimi Hendrix's "Bold As Love" for the Tsunami Aid benefit and a month later they reteamed for the Grammys, doing Mayer's double-award winner "Daughters".

According to Mayer, "I've just decided to go to my next place, and my next place is Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino. It's a very thought-out process of taking what excites me about Eric Clapton and B.B. King and Buddy Guy and Blind Faith and Derek & the Dominos and the Band and Cream, taking elements of all that and place it in my thing..."

"John Mayer's newest project...is a new school version of Cream." - MTV News

"John Mayer is new and improved...He's already seen the mountaintop of pop stardom...Now he's ready to get down in the groove." - The LA Times (9/17/05)

John Mayer Where The Light Is - Live In Los Angeles 180 GRAM Import LIMITED EDITION 4 LP SET

Exclusively Remastered! 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Pressing!

One Special Night Featuring Three Unique Performances: Acoustic, John Mayer Trio, Full Band on 4 LPs!

The 2008 release "Where the Light Is - Live In Los Angeles" includes four 180g audiophile virgin vinyl LPs containing 22 tracks divided into an Acoustic Set, the Trio Set, and the Band Set all recorded on December 8, 2007 at the NOKIA Theatre in L.A.

The tracks were recorded during the promotional tour for his 2006 album Continuum. The concert was performed for the Annual John Mayer Holiday Charity Revue.

Where The Light Is contains Mayer's critically acclaimed live acoustic cover of Tom Petty's Free Fallin'.

"Recorded at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California, Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles finds singer/songwriter and guitarist John Mayer performing in three different band settings: acoustic trio, electric trio, and large ensemble. As such, the evening works as a nice representation of Mayer's work beginning with the 2003 album Heavier Things and continuing through his creative reinvention as a modern electric blues artist with 2005's Try! John Mayer Trio Live in Concert and finally his smash Grammy-winning 2006 effort, Continuum. Essentially, the concert is designed to showcase Mayer's ability to move from melodic soft rock and pop to folky solo numbers and rockin' blues..." - Matt Collar, allmusic

John Mayer Room For Squares

Room For Squares (whose very title, not to mention Mayer's studied regular-guy cover pose, bespeaks the revenge of the nerds) accordingly trades in acoustic guitar-based folk-rock tempered with just enough 21st-century freshness to keep its practitioner in the Billboard charts (and his listeners' hearts). That's not to say Mayer's music is calculated; he's got a real feel for melody and a distinctive lyrical style. He also managed to be in the right place at the right time, and that's the key to any pop success.

1. No Such Thing
