JOHN WILLIAMS – The Maureenie Wishful Album – U.K. EMIDISC acetate – This is a Rare (prossibly the only copy) acetate from around 1967 of the British folk rock artist JOHN WILLIAMS. When the album was released it was known as The Maureeny Wishful Album (different spelling than what is printed on the cover of this acetate). Pre-Led Zeppelin JIMMY PAGE plays guitar and sitar on this album. It is from the collection of a prominent collector and promoter in the 1960’s American folk and rock scenes.

The tracks on this acetate are in the same order as the album that would be released. However the typed label on the cover spells Maureeny as Maureenie. Also on the label, the song orders of I Must Fly and To Something New are reversed as well as She Is My True Love and Dream Cloudburst; however the order is correct on the actual disc.

The acetate is still very glossy and obviously hasn’t been played much. I would grade it EX…except for the first track. On “Maureeny Wishful” someone dropped the needle and there is a V-shaped scratch that causes a loud pop at every revolution through half of the song (see last photo).
