AN EXTREMELY RARE EP FROM JOHNNY G AND THE CLAIMANTS ON THE DIY/PRIVATE LABEL: LOCAL. 

I KNEW VERY LITTLE ABOUT THIS RELEASE BUT DID MANAGE TO FIND SOME VERY INTERESTING INFORMATION AS SHOWN BELOW:

The first 'Local' label of two in the '70s was a one-off DIY label.  Its only issue was an EP by Johnny G. & The Claimants, which featured 'Moments' and four other tracks.  The catalogue number, LYN-2515, shows that it was a Lyntone product; and it came out in 1972.  Johnny G. went on to bigger and better things, becoming one of Beggars Banquet's first signings five years later and making a number of singles and albums for that company, starting off with 'Call Me Bwana' (BEG-3; 12/77).  The material on the EP seems to have been off-the-wall Folkish stuff.  The label itself resembled that of the second Local label (q.v.) in that it was black with silver printing and it had the name at the top, in italics.  The credits, however, were in handwriting-style fonts. The record could be obtained from premises in Kingsdown Avenue, London W.13. 

JOHNNY G emerged along much the same lines as Patrik Fitzgerald and Johnny Rubbish, but with an even more endearing edge. G's first band of note was the early-'70s act Johnny G & the Claimants, although he was already solo by the time his first single was self-released in 1972. G was signed by Beggars Banquet in late 1977, and at the end of the year became the first artist outside of the Lurkers to have a single released on the label, the wonderfully un-PC "Call Me Bwana!"

A VERY LIMITED RUN OF 45 EP's WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AND THIS WAS THE ONLY RELEASE ON THE LABEL, CANT GET MUCH RARER THAN THAT. STILL WITH ITS ORIGINAL D.I.Y. PICTURE SLEEVE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A COPY BEFIRE AND WILL PROBABLY NEVER SEE ONE AGAIN, GOOD LUCK!

Plays beautifully with just an occasional and very soft/quiet click/pop, nothing bad or repetitive at all. Nothing overpowers or ruins the tracks. Nice shiny vinyl plays with no loud hiss/crackle. No issues at all.

Sleeve - VG+

Comes in original DIY picture sleeve. No rips or writing, no stains. Some age toning, ring wear but nothing bad. 

Labels - EX+

No rips and no writing. Bright and clean labels.
