Artist: JOHNNY GRIFFIN and EDDIE “Lockjaw” DAVIS QUINTET
Title: “LOOKIN’ AT MONK”
Label: JAZZLAND (Riverside subsidiary). Monaural pressing on medium thick vinyl. Label is orange with black text, with deep groove. Catalog number is JLP 76.
Address on reverse of jacket is “235 West 46th Street, New York City 36, N. Y.”
Year: session: Feb 1961.
Personnel: Johnny Griffin and Eddie Davis – tenor saxes; Junior Mance – piano; Larry Gales – bass; Ben Riley - drums.
Note: This album comes from an extremely well cared-for jazz collection where the original owner cherished his albums, played them once or twice at most, and stored them under optimal conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for the collector who insists on top condition.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl is gorgeous NEAR MINT, as clean as can be found. The playing surface is immaculate, with a high luster, perhaps played once. Plays flawlessly with superb fidelity. Labels are clean and pristine with no spindle marks.
JACKET: (TEXTURED) jacket is NEAR MINT with nice bright artwork and bright clean white reverse. Seams, spine, and surfaces are excellent. No writing, stickers, or cutout indications, except for two small factory inspection notations lightly stamped on reverse. A beautiful item.
