Sad, spare, and beautiful, Blue is the quintessential confessional singer/songwriter album.
Forthright and poetic, Joni Mitchell's songs are raw nerves, tales of love and loss (two words with relative meaning here) etched with stunning complexity; even tracks like "All I Want," "My Old Man," and "Carey" -- the brightest, most hopeful moments on the record -- are darkened by bittersweet moments of sorrow and loneliness.
At the same time that songs like "Little Green" (about a child given up for adoption) and the title cut (a hymn to salvation supposedly penned for James Taylor) raise the stakes of confessional folk-pop to new levels of honesty and openness, Mitchell's music moves beyond the constraints of acoustic folk into more intricate and diverse territory, setting the stage for the experimentation of her later work.

LABELS: Clean, fresh and unmarked with no spindle traces or signs of use - beautiful copy, possibly never been played - MINT
VINYL Visual: The vinyl surfaces retain their original deep, like-new glossy sheen and are completely unmarked - MINT
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio throughout - crystal clean, clean, sharp and vibrant. On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my records prior to listing and it's always an immense pleasure to return to this masterpiece) there are no scratches, no sticks/jumps, no surface noise (the run-ins and track divisions are practically silent) and barely any click/pops (really hardly any and only of the kind commonly found on brand new vinyl and nothing ever intrusive). This is a beautiful copy which plays to just about the highest possible standard with no groove-wear, no distortion (it's possibly never been played), sounds superb and is critically graded NEAR MINT for audio - stunning copy and incredibly difficult to find one playing so well as even mint looking copies I have encountered in the past can play with 'clipping' to the higher piano registers (which are very sharp and very up-front) - but here the audio delivery is perfect - an all-round beautiful copy and very, very highly recommended
SLEEVE: The original 1st press matt gatefold cover is also in superb condition - one of the finest I have seen - there is very, very little rubbing to the textured outer surfaces and practically no wear to the edges or spine (which displays all text clear and bold). The inner surfaces with printed lyrics are like-new - NEAR MINT
INNER SLEEVE: The Blue Inner Sleeve, specially designed for this release, is also in lovely condition with no splits and little sign of ever being handled - NEAR MINT. (The vinyl is now housed in a new inner sleeve - and will be posted to you in this sleeve - to avoid any 'knifing' damage to the original during transit)
