Recorded live last August, The Rich Are Only Defeated When Running For Their Lives is British-Trinidadian poet/musician/author Anthony Joseph's latest album, that shows off the prowess of a team of master musicians from Paris and London including Shabaka Hutchings, Denys Baptiste, Rod Youngs, Thibaut Remy and Roger Raspail among others. The album's themes explore Joseph's Caribbean musical and literary roots, with its title coming from C.L.R James' 1938 book on the Haitian revolution, The Black Jacobins (1938).
