This is an incredible opportunity to own a piece of classical music history. Although rumored to be one of the 'greatest undiscovered American cellists' of the 20th century, Judith Davidoff Rosen remained in obscurity as a recording performer. She has only two credits on other known LP's that I could find: on the Rudolf Serkin-led 1961 Chamber Music from Marlboro LP and the Music at M.I.T. Centennial Album from the same year. This recording, which, as she notes in her introduction is for an application for a US Government Grant for study in Belgium, is likely to the be the only existing copy of her magnificent skill on the cello. In all likelihood, the master was likely lost or destroyed, making this 10" the sole way to preserve these gorgeous cello renditions and a true historical document.
On the one-sided acetate, likely from the early to mid-1950's, Rosen plays 1. "Prayer" by Bloch, 2. "Adagio (from Concerto in B flat)" by Boccherini, and 3. "Allegro Appasionato" by St. Saens. She is accompanied by an unidentified pianist.

Condition Labels: VG/VG+. Some visible spindle marks on label. Some underlining in pencil, "Cello" written in pencil. Vinyl: VG. Vinyl retains some gloss and plays with good sound quality with the exception of some clicks and pops. One light skip is heard during the first band (included in the sound clip excerpt). One scratch that follows the groove on the second band causes a few pops. The blank (non-music) side of the 10" has some light scuffing. Some chipping to outer edges of the acetate as pictured.
