Description
KILLER UK British popsike GEM from August 11, 1968 (says so on the label), from Just William, “I Don’t Care” b/w “Cherrywood Green” on the Spark label. You’ll recognize the B-side from one of the Electric Lemonade Acid Test albums – it’s a pounding yet mysterious bit of English popsike, building up to a catchy chorus in the grand Small Faces/Kinks/Tomorrow tradition. A-side “I Don’t Care” has yet to be comped, however, and is actually even BETTER! This is stompin’ early freakbeat popsike with lots of harmonies and a super catchy melody, like every Move single released in 1967. It’s pure pop, as opposed to the psychier flip, but there’s a special place in my heart for simple pop melodies this good. The band also released a few singles under the name Herbie’s People which are also worth tracking down. Original 1968 pressing on the UK Spark label. Small sticker on A-side label, some writing on both sides. Vinyl plays VG+ with a few pops on the A-side.
