This is the 1976 first US pressing, complete with the embossed jacket and custom cardboard inner sleeve which captures all song lyrics.

A wonderful collection of musicians join Browne:

David Lindley plays guitar.
Jim Gordon (George Harrison and Eric Clapton bands) plays drums.
To verify this to be a genuine first US pressing, note the photos and these characteristic features:
Embossed jacket cover with raised letters and photo.
Heavy cardboard-like inner sleeve, with complete lyrics.
Side One matrix #'s: 7E-1079 SP A 1-2 (in dead wax).
Side Two matrix #'s: 7E-1079 B SP 1-2 (in dead wax).
Vinyl: Near Mint
Brilliant sound quality on this well recorded album. Plays "like new". Looks just a wee bit shy of "like new", flawed only by a couple of very light surface marks which can be seen under bright light (but not under normal lighting). Exceptionally high gloss on this record, now more than 40 years old !!! A great listen !!!
Labels are bright and clean.

Jacket: Near Mint
Just a bit shy of "like new", flawed only by traces of a trace of ring wear and bits of rub wear on the corners and seams.
No splits. No writing, stamps or bar code.
Spine print is crystal clear.

This is a superb copy of Jackson Browne's classic "The Pretender" LP, here as a first and complete US pressing. You will be very "hard pressed" to find a finer copy of this gem that is not sealed. Hoping it goes to a good home.

Music is my passion. I’ve been a collector for more than 50 years and have thousands of records in my personal collection, focused largely on 50’s and 60’s rock ‘n’ roll. Recently retired, I look to downsize and sell select portions of my collection in hopes of financing future purchases of a few special pieces.
All records I offer are from my personal collection, each cleaned using my Nitty Gritty Record Cleaning Machine.
All are play graded (not just visually graded), employing Goldmine Price Guide standards.
As I take great care to accurately describe my items, I do not accept returns unless my item description is incorrect.
All records are packaged with the wax outside the jacket (to avoid seam split in transit), enclosed in a plastic sleeve and shipped in robust record mailer boxes via USPS Media Mail, tracking included.
