Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds is the debut studio album by Jeff Wayne, in which the story of The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells is retold. Released as a concept album the main format is progressive, symphonic rock using a string orchestra with narration and leitmotifs, which are constantly recurring musical phrases. Originally released in 1978, by 2009 it was the 40th best selling album of all time in the UK with sales over 2.5 million. There have been multiple versions of the album but this album I am selling is an original first release from 1978. With Richard Burton (as the narrator and Jouralist) who is best known for his motion picture roles in the 1950's - 1970's.
This is from my private collection and I am the original owner/purchaser. This album is a first release CBS 96000 and was printed and made in Holland in 1978, which I purchased at Virgin Records in London England in 1981. I recorded the album on Cassette Tape shortly after purchase so the vinyl record has only been played a few times and has been carefully stored to protect the condition of the jacket/sleeve and the Vinyl Record.
The original book is included which has stunning art work, lyrics and script as well as details about the players. The book helps to create the feeling that you have been provided with a playbill while listening to an audio of a theatrical performance.

I am not a professional grader and my assessment of the condition is based on my opinion. The Jacket and sleeve as having visible signs of age and slight wear. The Jacket has no cutout holes, no indentations and no corners indicating it was taken out of print or sold at a discount. The Vinyl is nearly a perfect record with no obvious signs of wear, warping scratches or scuffs.
