Immaculate 1973 UK first pressing green label vinyl LP. Tull's sixth studio album comprising one conceptual suite and an interlude occupying both sides of the LP. The gatefold picture sleeve with internal flaps to hold the eight page ‘programme’, and lyrics on the inner spread, is in Mint condition (including the ‘programme’ booklet) while the vinyl is in Excellent condition and sounds as wonderful as ever.
Highly desirable for its first pressing matrices and increasingly difficult to find in good condition, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this extreme rarity to your collection at an extremely advantageous price.

This rare 1973 UK FIRST PRESSING LP from the band’s creative peak is hardly ever offered for sale in this condition.

This is the extremely rare real thing: a GENUINE UK first pressing in excellent/mint condition. The record, cover, booklet and inner sleeve are all in immaculate condition, without any defects like scratches, tears, stickers, writing and such like (they genuinely look like they were bought new today). See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1973 not reprints. The LP is the original UK first issue stereo LP, which was only played occasionally on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.

Another one of the greats from Ian Anderson and Co. “A Passion Play” is really divided into 2 segments. The first is in the same vein musically and in structure as “Thick as a Brick”, while the second part begins to take the shape more of a stage musical and storytelling. This is where I find Jethro Tull to have been at their height of their musical career. As you would expect “Passion Play” digs deep into the mystical music that is associated with Jethro Tull and contains some of their best flute and instrumental work. This is a very mature masterpiece displaying some very delicious progressive moments.

After the marvellous “Thick as a Brick” album, Jethro Tull comes up with this jewel. It definitely sounds like the previous record, but I find Passion Play having more subtle and refined parts and more mellow bits than “Thick As A Brick”. Plus, they really sound like Van Der Graaf Generator here, as revealed by the many organ and sax parts. The 2 epic tracks are VERY progressive and rhythm changing, and the charm resides in the miscellaneous echoed sax parts and the catchy, melodic & well played piano. Ian Anderson's voice is OUTSTANDING. There are many excellent organ parts, like on the previous album. The bass and drums are not lazy at all, at least during the loaded bits! Anderson's flute can also be appreciated, still always exciting and professionally played. Martin Barre's electric guitar is rather discreet, except on some specific parts; he uses more in the foreground the acoustic guitar. Because of the numerous saxes involved, I find the record sometimes slightly jazzy/fusion! It is one of the best Tull albums!

This may be your only ONCE IN A LIFETIME chance to own this rare piece of rock history in this condition.

This is a fantastic little piece from an excellent band. Harkening back to “Thick As A Brick”, the 40+ minutes take you through a journey on the afterlife, or at least his take on it. The music is very good, and very progressive. Part one is more of the “Thick As A Brick” stage, but still very original. Part two is where this disk shines. A definite plus to any collection.

In my view, “A Passion Play” is simply brilliant. Following on the heels of “Thick as a Brick”, Jethro Tull attempt the impossible: to top a masterpiece of long, shamelessly excessive rock with another album even longer and more excessive. One is reminded of the day Yes went too far and made “Tales For Topographic Oceans”. However, in this case I believe Jethro Tull succeeded, if not in topping “Thick as a Brick”, then certainly in equalling it.

A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
