Earliest UK pressing of this monumental classic!!

On offer is a very rare Hendrix release.Original UK 1st pressing on the 1st Press Track label.Important to note that this LP was only ever issued with this ultra rare earliest 1st press Puppet cover for a tiny amount of time !!! The sleeve was soon changed to the more standard and common Isle of Wight sleeve.The vinyl boasts the earliest A1/B1 matrices and has a heavy weight feel. A thick quality pressing !

Band of Gypsys was a psychedelic rock band led by Hendrix and backed by Billy Cox and Buddy Miles . Hendrix formed the band after the dissolution of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. This album was recorded live on two separate nights,31 December 1969 and 01 January 1970 at The Fillmore East. Released only three months before his death in 1970 ! A must have for all keen Hendrix fans !

Album sleeve

Most important facet here . 1st issue, MacNeill Press manufacture. Banned after release, as it caused so much controversy and offensive reactions  ! This album cover featured limp,lifeless dolls of Hendrix, Brian Jones, Bob Dylan and the DJ, John Peel.This is the earliest issue, with the clipped spine, clearly showing title. It is the original, 1st issue sleeve from 1970 ! Excellent spine , clearly showing Track catalogue number. Corners only slightly scuffed. Minimum edge wear. Amazing cover, with minimal feathering to opening edge. Unlaminated faces, with a matt finish, whereby so many suffered immense damage, rips and tears. This one is the best I have seen and is in excellent/- condition. NO tears . NO rips of any kind. Colours remain vibrant and unfaded. One moderate crease on top left corner, also comes through to rear ,with very minor creasing along spinal edge, only visible if  angled. A fantastic, collectors’ item.

Labels

Black Track labels with no mottling, nor peeling and are in excellent condition. Just a few spindle lines visible but no damage to report. Excellent condition.

Audio

Excellent, for most of play. What can I say? Channels are exceptionally clear, with very little surface disturbance. Hendrix is heard at his awesome best. Stereo perspective, absolutely breathtaking . A phenomenal, aural delivery. NO definitive audible scratches. Dust is still lifting from these exceptional grooves, so there is even more room for improvement.

Recorded live at the Fillmore East, New York,1970. Eddie Kramer remixed/engineered this incredible release and the audio is the best I have heard. NO groove wear and surface noise is minimal. The raw Hendrix talent is quite breathtaking, as his electric guitar screeches its way from speaker to speaker. Feedback echoes as the sensational remix is delivered like no other. AWESOME!

Vinyl

Incredible polished surfaces and appears with an excellent sheen. One or two  hairlines visible and a light scuff ,where sleeve has brushed the surfaces. If examined against a strong light, one can observe the odd surface mark but they all disappear beneath highly polished surfaces. Amazing quality on offer here .Excellent visual.

This phenomenal album release has become an elusive and a difficult acquisition but is so necessary as it has become one of THE album productions that all keen collectors MUST have !! Almost impossible to locate in this remarkable condition. Please do not miss as these releases are becoming scarcer by the day.
