***  PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BIDDING ***

This is a 78 rpm phonograph record of Sleep Baby Sleep / The Soldier's Sweetheart, by Jimmie Rodgers on Victor 20864.  I found this in the San Antonio area, along with several other late 1920s country 78s.  The seller said the records had been in his family for many years. 

Written on the label are the words "Sincerely Jimmie Rodgers."  The writing is in white fountain pen ink, not printed or stamped.  Much of the ink has rubbed or flaked off over the years but enough remains that you can make out all three words (see photo #1.)  I am not an autograph expert but this was described to me by the seller as authentic and I have no reason to think otherwise.  Rodgers did spend a fair amount of time in the San Antonio area during his later years.  There is no writing of any sort on the reverse label.

Unfortunately, the record itself has three significant bites (see photo #2) and the first half is unplayable.  What's left of it is in V+ condition, with light groove wear and average gloss.  It could be successfully displayed in a sleeve.
