Description

An original 1st press of IMAGINE on the UK Apple label. Matrix 1U/1U - very 1st cut. Stampers 1G/4MH. Etching 'Porky/Pecko'. Please note this matrix was extensively used way beyond 1st pressing so you need to look for other attributes, in addition, to confirm definitively. Firstly, the really early copies should be pressed on heavy vinyl, like this example, and not the flimsy mid seventies stock. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover with pinched spine [per 1st issue]. Also included is the original thick paper poster, the promo card, and the original lyric inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one very slight deviation. An absolutely lush sounding record and proof, if further proof was required, that we're dealing with an early copy. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect rigidity.A nigh on perfect rendition with only one vague issue which is pretty much impossible to avoid on this title [i'll explain shortly]. The first tester of a decent copy is that all important 1st track - "Imagine". And this copy plays it clean - which is very impressive. Let's not forget that this is one of THE most iconic songs of the seventies and will mostly likely have been played to death in most cases. Delivery of all songs is very nice and clean with just one slight exception. As you will typically find it is on 'Oh My Love' where there is the slightest issue. It's just the faintest few rustles of very low-level static just occasionally noticeable in that track. And remember if it weren't for the fact that that track is super low-key we probably wouldn't even be mentioning it. But I'm being ultra critical here. One of the best renditions I've witnessed of this title and quite frankly a storming rendition...and lets not forget..a truly GREAT album.
Cover (Ex-) A very nice shiny looking front with a couple of thumbnail creases toward the opening, and one crease in the bottom left. The rear looks great - a couple of edge stress creases and little else worthy of note. Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings remain sharpish. The spine is pretty much entirely intact with all text perfectly legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Hardly any ageing with no splits or markings.
Postcard (Vg+) Looks fine, but with crease running across the top sector.
Poster (Ex/Ex+) Never been on a wall. Very nicely preserved. Perhaps super-light ageing at a couple of the folds.
