You are bidding on a true rarity - a Capitol acetate master for a Judy Garland performance that was never released on vinyl.
In 1962, Judy Garland appeared for a midnight recording session before a live audience at Manhattan Center, where she recorded several songs, including this stirring rendition of "Joey, Joey, Joey" by Frank Loesser. Unfortunately, Judy was stricken with laryngitis that evening. The results were deemed unusable at the time.
Then, in the mid 1980s, Coyne Steven Sanders was working with Capitol on CD releases of Judy's studio output, when he discovered the master tapes from the unused Manhattan Center performance. From the perspective of twenty years later, it was decided that the performances were stellar, in spite of Judy's fighting through laryngitis. This led to the CD simply called "Judy Garland Live," released in 1989, that contained the Manhattan Center performance.
Therefore, it is quite a surprise to find this acetate master, Capitol Master No. 24193, dated 11-4-64, mysteriously titled "Joey #1", containing the song "Joey, Joey, Joey" suggesting that a commercial release was at least considered at that time. This is a rare piece of Garlandia, for collectors only.
This 7" disc is recorded at 33 1/3 rpm. The time of the recording is shown as 3:03. The disc is in good condition, with scuff marks and some light scratches. There is a slight nick on the back side of the disc, which you can see in the photo in the upper right of the edge of the disc.
