Description

Judy Henske & Jerry Yester. Farewell Aldebaran. Straight Records(STS 1052). 1969.

This album is not for the faint of heart. If you're thinking this is just another example of some kind of typical late '60s/early '70s psyche-folk album...well you're sort of close...but it goes much further afield than that.

"Look, why don't we really try and do something that we're proud of." Yester to Henske.

Jerry Yester is known through his Lovin' Spoonful (and other bands) connection, while Judy Henske released some great early albums on the Elektra label among others. But forget their earlier work. And issued originally on Zappa's Straight Records label should be a clue that this is something both special and different.
This album is--perhaps more than any other albums from that late '60s period--a real look into just what that era could be, and was like, musically. Being there at the time, this album was still kind of a shock, a wake up call to how far you could go.
