KINKS VILLAGE GREEN PRESERVATION SOCIETY 1st PRESS MONOBLUE PYE LABEL SUPERB

This is the earliest 1st UK Mono pressing with the original blue Pye label and the following matrix numbers (with the amended 13<>W on Side 1):

Side 1: NPL.18233A -13<>W 3<>W

Side 2: NPL.18233B - 3W

All photographs are of the actual item for sale. Please ask any questions before you bid or buy.

The record is from my own personal collection and was one of (the ludicrously) few bought at the time of  its original release. All my records have been cleaned with a Moth machine.

The heavyweight vinyl retains a nice sheen.  There are some light scuff marks but these do not affect sound quality. Overall it sounds superb – no jumps, clicks or scratches with a very clear crisp sound and it plays without jumps or any intrusive crackles. The only noticeable exception are 4 slight clicks lasting some 6 seconds towards the end of ‘Phenomenal Cat’  (Side 2 Track 4)

The notoriously fragile gatefold cover shows some light wear around the edges and corners. The most significant blemishes (see photos) are are an area of about 1cm sq in  the top left corner of the front sleeve (where the laminate has rubbed away) and a slight 1cmtear on the opening of the inside cover by Dave Davies’ shoulder. The spine is fully legible but with about 2cm frayed just below the centre. Otherwise the laminated cover is fully intact with no markings.

I use a slight variant on RC gradings (see below) but tend to grade conservatively because, firstly, as a collector myself, I know how frustrating it is to receive ‘over-graded’ items and, secondly, I am having a clearout over the coming months (years?) and wish to maintain and develop a good reputation. I never grade a used record as Mint as that is a contradiction in terms. All of my records have been play tested. In summary I’d assess it as follows:

Vinyl visual – VG/Ex

Labels – VG/Ex

Sound - Ex

Sleeve – VG -

I will endeavour to post all items within 2 working days of Paypal payment (or cheque clearing). Price quoted covers Royal Mail signed for delivery with suitably robust and well-protected packaging.

While I describe items as honestly and accurately as I can,a refund is guaranteed if you are not satisfied with the items as described

Thanks for looking.

Record Collector Grading System:

M = Mint: Never been played or item still sealed. Cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster (ie contents) are in perfect condition.

Ex = Excellent: Shows some signs of being played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VG = Very Good: Obviously been played many times but nomajor deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on cover or contents, without any major defects.

Gd = Good: Sound quality has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion. Mild scratches. Cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc.

Fair: Still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise - it may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor: Will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc. Cover and contents will be badly damaged or missing
