Description
This lp came to me directly from representatives of the artist. I played it once & then stored it carefully. It is in mint / as new condition (there is a very small cut-out nip on the open edge of sleeve - I was told that these copies were given to the artist just prior to deletion of the lp).
catalogue number is: paramount/just sunshine records:PAS6008
sleeve notes by Fred Neil
tracks: something on your mind, when a man loves a women, in my own dream, katie cruel, how sweet it is, in a station, take me, same old man, one night of love, are you leaving for the country.
collectors won't need tempting - you won't find a copy where the lp itself is in such mint condition - this is as good as it gets. Karen is one of folk musics great lost voices - she achieved critical acclaim but seemed to vanish after releasing a couple of now highly collectable albums before passing away way too early. Although she is always listed under the genre 'folk' her music crossed over in the same way that early Joni Mitchell did. She has also become something of a cult figure for the psych & new american folk movements (Joanna Newson, Devandra Banhart etc). Added to this is the interest from blues collectors who recognize her ability to express that genre's emotions within the broader world of folk music.
I've set a reasonable starting price (in line with my research on selling price of lower condition copies & below the other 'mint' copies I could find listed on various sites).
