This album is just as it was when it was first sold over the counter of a 1974's record shop!!! It is not very often that you come across a vinyl of such superior quality. As such this is the ultimate VAULT copy!!!
!!!The next incarnation of King Crimson started touching upon new territory veering into what nowadays would be called progmetal!!! Still the Crimson of old is still to be heard on tracks like e.g. "Fallen Angel".Phenomenal musicianship!!! Listen to "Providence" for example, totally engaging with all three members at that time taking their craft to a next level.
Sensational sound quality, NO skips or jumps. NO clicks, this is really a stunning heavy vinyl with a beautiful deep gloss. This vinyl has hardly been played!!! A definite NM!!! So much better than the CD version producing a depth and channelling that is totally lost on the CD format!! Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.
I have played this in FULL> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more in-depth observation. I am very glad to say that there are not any jumps or skips. Unbelievably as it may sound there is not any background noise at all, there are no hairlines or scuffs at all!! Very remarkable for this 1974 vinyl!!! Great songcraft, with Bill Bruford and John Wetton on board, no wonder this album is now so sought after. This is a topdrawer album. If you like this, the first album by UK is also well worth cheking out and can still be had for relatively little money. I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!!
Vinyl: NM, it is not often that I would use this grade. This is the copy to get as a final upgrade.
Sleeve: EX++. Front and back laminated sleeve . The backsleeve is matt. The sleeve is phenomenal!!! Only one small crease to the back near the opening, hard to notice. All edges are sharp and crisp WITHOUT WEAR!!! NO writing or doodling. NO tears or rips and no large creases. Very minor ring impression to the back. The spine is fully legible.
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! There are very many Crimson collectors around the world, but not that many albums to go by as they did not sell in the quantities like e.g. Pink floyd or Yes sold.
Original Island pale blue inner with the "I" logo to the bottom. Also an NME review attached to the inner sleeve honing it as "the best album ever made under the name of King Crimson".
Also included is a period newspaper advert for the album, which is folded to fit into the sleeve. How many people would have kept that?
Labels are NM with only very minor spindle marks suggesting no more than 2 or 3 plays.
