Description
An original 1st press of RED on the UK Island label from 1974. Matrix 3/6. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with pinched spine. We also have the original Blue Island inner sleeve. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In very nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. There's a little super-superficial scuffing in one patch on side 2. And there's a scuff mark across the track 'RED'. Now, my initial think was..uh-oh. This is KC and THIS will be a problem. But I'm fully testing it and concentrating intently - I cannot hear a thing entering the audio spectrum in 'RED' [at all]. And perhaps just a couple of minor ticks in the opening to Fallen Angel. So, if you're the sort of buyer who will freak out at a mark like that - perhaps best move onto another copy. But if you're prepared to take that on the chin to bag a great value - great player.. then read on. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of minor deviations. By and large fantastic audio. Not quite good enough to hit the highest grading. But to be frank - not far off. Nice quiet intros and inbetweens and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. And remember, KC tend to have a lot very low key sequences - so their records are often tricky ones to find playing clean. The only deviations are a couple of minor ticks in the opening to Angel [as mentioned above]. The super low-key sequence at the start of side 2 is extremely tricky to find playing clean. This one is pretty good - but not perfectly quiet. Expect the odd static crackle here and there and a couple of minor ticks in one spot. But, to be frank, probably better than most copies. Overall a great little player. A very impressive standard - priced at a sensible level.
Cover (Ex-) Looks very nice black and shiny. Very nice and flat without much creasing. There do appear to be one or two spots of minor wear right in the top sectors - inked in in black to hide. It's been done carefully and the original aesthetic is still very much preserved. The rear is looking just as fine. Very little edge wear and nice sharp openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. Bag present. No splits.
