This collection includes recordings of Bach’s works for solo and acc. Violin (Sonatas and Partitas) by Gideon Kremer, Leonid Kogan, Arthur Grumiaux, Josef Suk and Henryk Szeryng (complete Szeryng cycle). Bach’s Violin Concertos are represented with recordings by Heifetz, Kremer, Milstein and a stunning Giaconda de Vito recording. Classical violin sonatas are included with the famous recordings of Oistrakh / Oborine, Grumiaux / Haskil, Schneiderhan / Semann & Melkus / Badura-Skoda. The art of virtuoso violin is documented with recordings of Leonid Kogan, Jacques Thibaud (legendary Vitali / Vivaldi / Eccle / Granados recital), Itzhak Perlman and David Oistrach (with Vladimir Yampolsky). I would like to emphasize that this collection contains 8 (!) Stereo records with Russian Master violinist Leonid Kogan including his rarest (virtuoso) recital with Elisabeth Gilels and the extremely rare first issue of Beethoven’s violin Concerto (cond. C. Silvestri) on Columbia.
