Description
This is a very rare LP. It's on the original UK plum/red Atlantic label and it's entitled 'Led Zeppelin 1' by Led Zeppelin.
It's a stereo recording and the catalogue number is 588171. It was released originally in 1969. What distinguishes this wonderful LP is the fact that it's a first pressing with the original and quickly superceded laminated cover which features turquoise (not the later orange) wording and Atlantic logo on the front.
OUTER SLEEVE - The sleeve which is laminated on the front and back is in fine condition. There is minor ring wear on the front and back as well as some creasing. There also appears to be some minor discolouration on the top front right hand corner owing to moisture infiltration. This is hardly noticeable. The edges and spine are show some creasing and minor wear. The wording along the spine is 100% readable. The rear of the sleeve which is also laminated shows some wear, marks and slight discolouration due to moisture. It states on the rear of the sleeve in the bottom right hand corner 'UPTIGHT AN' OUTASIGHT is the official Atlantic Appreciation Society at 17/19, Stratford Place, London, W.1. - Under licence from Atlantic Recording Corp., USA - manufactured by Polydor Records Ltd., London - Printed and made by MacNeill Press Ltd., S.E.1. I've graded the sleeve Ex-.
INNER BAG - Polydor/Atlantic white paper diecut company sleeve with clear polythene inner. It states at the bottom on one side - British patent No.800513 & 973939 - MADE IN ENGLAND 0373. I've graded this inner bag as Ex-.
RECORD - The record plays superbly well on both sides with some minor surface noise and the odd pop and click. Both sides look quite clean and appear to have been played only a few times. The record plays through on both sides with no jumps.
LABELS - The labels are the original plum, red, white and black stereo Atlantic type. Around the circumference it states - 'ALL RIGHTS OF THE MANUFACTURER AND OF THE OWNER OF THE RECORDED WORK RESERVED - MADE IN GT. BRITAIN - UNAUTHORISED PUBLIC PERFORMANCE BROADCASTING AND COPYING OF THIS RECORD PROHIBITED' and in the middle of the label it states 'Under licence from Atlantic RecordingCorpn., U.S.A.' The credits are 'Superhype Music' and 'Jewel Music'. There are some minor spindle marks around the holes. The labels are in fine condition with no damage. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - 588171 A//1 122 - side two - 588171 B//1 1 15 (as far as I can see). I have graded the record Ex.
I try to grade everything very conservatively and I believe that the winner of this auction will not be disappointed. I guarantee everything I sell. It will be difficult to find this record again.
THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS ITEM.
