Description

LED ZEPPELIN - LED ZEPPELIN II (1969) The Legendary Bob Ludwig "Hot Mix" (RL) on BOTH sides | Rare Original US First Pressing Up for auction is a genuine, original 1969 US first pressing of 'Led Zeppelin II' featuring the legendary Bob Ludwig "Hot Mix" with the official "RL" stamp on both Side 1 and Side 2. This copy features the highly coveted earliest double-A matrix stamps: ST-A-691671 A on Side One and ST-A-691672 A on Side Two. Mastered directly by Bob Ludwig at Sterling Sound, this initial pressing was mixed incredibly loud with an immense bass response. Because it caused cheaper record players of the era to skip, Atlantic pulled this mix from the market almost immediately. Finding a true double-sided "RL" copy in beautiful, strong condition is a major event for any serious rock collector. ITEM SPECIFICS:

  • Artist: Led Zeppelin
  • Title: Led Zeppelin II
  • Label: Atlantic (SD 8236)
  • Country of Manufacture: USA (1841 Broadway, New York address on labels)
  • Pressing Plant: Presswell - PR
  • Matrix Side 1: ST-A-691671 A W AT RL
  • Matrix Side 2: ST-A-691672 A [etched symbols] AT RL
  • Format: 12" Vinyl LP, Album, Gatefold (33 RPM)
CONDITION REPORT:
  • Sleeve (Cover): VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+). The gatefold jacket shows minor, honest shelf wear on the edges and corners as expected for its age. However, it remains beautifully crisp and clean. The spine is fully intact and perfectly legible. The stunning inner gatefold artwork is in absolutely pristine, perfect condition.
  • Vinyl: VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+). The record retains a beautiful, strong factory gloss with only a few light, superficial surface hairlines/paper scuffs that do not affect play. Labels are clean and vibrant with sharp typography. It plays beautifully with that jaw-dropping, thunderous analog bass power that made the Ludwig mix legendary.
SHIPPING & PACKAGING:
This historic piece will be packaged with world-class collector's care inside a heavy-duty cardboard record mailer. The vinyl disc will be removed from the gatefold cover prior to packing to eliminate the risk of seam splits during transit. Worldwide tracked and insured shipping is fully available. Please see the shipping calculator for rates.
