The very first copies of Led Zep IV had no mention of Superhype in the publishing credit and showed Peter Grant as Executive Producer. While the labels were redesigned and reprinted, Atlantic recalled existing copies so that they could have correction stickers added to the labels. These over-stickered copies are among the rarest copies of Led Zep IV.

This has the following first press matrix numbers:

2401012 A//3 and 2401012 B//3 and the run-outs are etched with PECKO DUCK and PORKY.

Note that the cover and inner sleeve have various signs of age, wear and use: in particular, the cover has a slightly dodgy repair to the top rear corner at the opening. The inner sleeve has neat repairs to internal seam splits and some graffiti has been removed from the track list side. Note that this is the correct first press inner sleeve which has the photography credit for Keith Morris which was removed from later issues.

Please note that the rare labels have various signs of the stickers having been tampered with, removed, replaced etc and one sticker is missing and the label shows signs of this (sticker 'shadowing' etc which doesn't show up in the photos). I've shown the three remaining stickers close-up in the final three photos so please look at these carefully before deciding to buy or bid.

The vinyl has various marks and signs of use but generally plays well. This album has a wide variance in recorded sound from very loud to very quiet and so different tracks play-grade at different levels with the best being Near Mint and the worst being Very Good, as follows:

Black Dog play-grades as Ex

Rock n Roll play-grades as NM

Evermore play-grades as a SAFE VG

Stairway play-grades as VG+

Misty Mountain play-grades as VG+

Four Sticks play-grades as EX-

California play-grades as VG+ to EX-

Levee play-grades as Ex to Ex-

So, averaging these out, overall I would play-grade this album around Excellent minus (Ex-) with parts that are better than that and parts that are lower.

Vinyl is removed from the sleeve for posting and the contents will be protected with rigid cardboard stiffeners. Packages are labelled "Do not bend" and securely sealed with "FRAGILE" parcel tape.
