Description
Hi, and welcome to psych_out! auctions!!!
I've collected 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between for all my life!!! Obviously, 90%+ of the LP's i've ever gotten hold of are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? Reluctantly, i've decided to offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!! I'm currently trying to set up a record label so unfortunately personal sacrifices have to be made when it comes to my collection, resulting in GREAT benefits for all you shrewd bidders and serious connosieurs of TRUE solid gold music history out there!!! Make no mistake, i'll try my best to consistently offer some of the VERY BEST records available on ebay, many which have taken me YEARS to find!!!
I aim to put a weekly batch up (time permitting) every wednesday, all timed to end 10 days later on saturday night. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZING, MOST IMPORTANT, VERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS i've got!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered", weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).
I try to be one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and i'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!
I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!
Title : Led Zeppelin - Led Zep 1
Label & year : Original Atlantic 588 171 LP , UK Stereo 1969 OUTRAGEOUSLY RARE "Turquoise" 1st Press with "Superhype" labels!!!
Matrix's : Side A : 588171 A//1 1 , Side B : 588 171 B//1 1
Musicians : Robert Plant - Vocals, Jimmy Page - Guitar, John Paul Jones - Bass, and John Bonham - Drums.
ONE OF THE GREATEST DEBUT LP'S EVER!!! Most won't need me to tell you how IMPOSSIBLY RARE a true "Turquoise" 1st Press of this LP truly is, but for those who need filling in - Just as this monumental debut was first going to press in 1969, a last minute decision was made by the band and manager Peter Grant (and what Grant says goes!!!) that the greeny blue text on the front just wasn't the right look for this mean rock 'n' roll band, immediately changing it to a much more violent and announcing orange text which would leap off the sleeve with more intent and vigour!!! As a result, it's said that only a small shipment of no more than 2000 with the Turquoise sleeves EVER left the plant (and i'd be MASSIVELY suprised if any more than a quarter of those still remain in existence!!!) - resulting straight away in EASILY the most valuable and rarest Led Zep LP to EVER be commercially released!!!
These barely EVER turn up due to the small amount remaining being immediately snapped up by the rabid Led Zep faithful dotted across the globe, so it's always a MONUMENTAL moment when one of these come up for sale!!! DON'T MISS OUT - you just never know when one will ever show up again!!!
Tracklist : Good Times Bad Times, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, You Shook Me, Dazed and Confused, Your Time Is Gonna Come, Black Mountain Side, Communication Breakdown, I Can't Quit You Baby, and How Many More Times.
Musicians : Robert Plant - Vocals, Jimmy Page - Guitar, John Paul Jones - Bass, and John Bonham - Drums.
About : Ultra Rare Original 1969 UK 1st Press!!! This MASSIVELY RARE LP initially sold barely anything (LP's were also really expensive to most people back then!!!) and therefore had a very small run, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! AN absolute classic LP from this incredible band!!! An astonishing album that really DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60's / 70's record collection!!! Don't miss out on this MEGA RARE LP!!! If you like good music, bid now!!!
The LP :
Labels :
Classic UK red & plum Atlantic "Superhype" 1st Press labels!!! Both sides are GREAT with minimal signs of age, NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears whatsoever!!! Just has a few light spindle marks from general light use over the years!!! BRILLIANT for a 41 year old record!!! Both must grade overall at least as Very Good!!!
Record : Visual -
Spectacular Original UK Red and Plum Atlantic 1969 "Superhype" 1st Press Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks GREAT with NO really nasty marks, groovewear, or nasty deep scuffs whatsoever!!! The only blemishes are just a few light scuff marks, a few mild hairline scratches and age marks here and there, and just some of the usual light wispy sleeve traces (only visible in direct angled light) from general use and where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! On a modern, thin low quality LP, these marks would possibly be more evident in play, but because this is such an thick quality 1st pressing, it plays beautifully with no trouble AT ALL!!! Well used, but definitely BRILLIANT for a record of this age and rarity, and with mountains of life left in it!!! Must grade overall at least as Good!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me!!!) Record : Audio - Thankfully, it plays BRILLIANTLY with fantastic stereo seperation and clarity!!! It really sounds AWESOME with NO hops, hisses, distortion, sticks, or skips!!! Only (like pretty much all records) has low level static in places such as on the run in grooves, possibly the rarest non-repetitive light click here and there, and just a hint of ULTRA mild and light "bluesman's fag" static in few and far between places such as on some of the quieter sections, but it truly doesn't overshadow the music AT ALL!!! I'd even argue it gives it added soul!!! An outstanding listen - The music is TRULY loud and clear with that bass, depth, warmth and clarity you can only get from UK 1st Press vinyl!!! Absolutely essential!!! FANTASTIC for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall audiably at the least as Very Good!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me) Sleeve :Original UK 1969 1st press MacNeill fully laminated "Turquoise" sleeve!!! IMPOSSIBLE to find this sleeve in anything approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn, worn, and heavily stained due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT too bad at all, and looks GREAT, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves!!! Other than just two tiny initials on the top right of the back, NO writing OR graffiti, NO excessively bad marks AT ALL, and still strong and solid after all these years!!! Only has some usual mild ageing such as some obvious creasing, a little dulling to the white and a touch of a record imprint, a little laminate lifting along parts of the spine, some light indents and touches of scuffing here and there, just a small split to the middle of the spine, a touch of denting/rounding to the four corners which ALL vintage LP's have, and POSSIBLY (just to be sure!!!) one or two other minor signs of age here and there, though nothing that really stands out to note at all!!! And that's truly about it!!! I tend to bring it down by listing ALL the most minor negatives I can find, but this remains a GREAT sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one as intact and as presentable as this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! It remains strong, solid and unspoilt, and despite the small split, even the spine remains solid, and 100% readable!!! Must grade overall at least as Good!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)
Summary : A well used, yet still a BRILLIANT sounding and well presentable example of this PHENOMENALLY RARE withdrawn classic debut, with the Turquoise sleeve AND Superhype credit labels!!! Hard to find in ANY condition, but SERIOUSLY RARE TO FIND ONE AS SONICALLY GREAT AS THIS!!! YOU MAY NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN, so don't miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a true piece of 60's/70's music history!!! Bid now!!!
Please take a look at all my other auctions for many other ultra rare classic LPs, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks again for looking, it's truly appreciated!! Cheers!!!I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system (occasionally with a + or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i'm having real trouble deciding!), so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100% perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional mild mark and minor use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable, yet light visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps!
