GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a turntable Rega Planar 3 with a moving magnet cartridge Grado Statement 1. I listen EPs and singles 45  rpm. on a turntable Thorens TD 166 BC with a MM cartridge Goldring 1006. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : Lilian Terry ha mezzi vocali di alta classe e riesce perfettamente a modulare i suoi caldi timbri nelle quattro canzoni in Inglese presenti su questo extended  play. Da un divertente e ben ritmato charleston passa al blues, a una frizzante beguine e al tema romantico di un film con adatte scale jazzistiche. Il quartetto 2 + 2 con Nora e Paola Orlandi, Massimo Cini e Enzo Gioieni, supporta la cantante con il controcanto in sottofondo. Ottime prestazioni da parte dei musicisti diretti da Gianni Ferrio, che non essendo accreditati da nessuna parte è impossibile nominare, salvo andare un po’ a caso e rimediare brutte figure. Gli strumenti  maggiormente in evidenza sono il sax alto (anche con brevi assoli), le tastiere (organo, pianoforte, clavicembalo), chitarra, flauto (anche con breve assolo), basso e batteria.  Non mi piace affatto scrivere le solite parole o frasi che declamano la grande rarità del disco, ma questo è uno dei casi in cui non si può fare a meno di affermarlo.

Notes : Lilian Terry's vocal high class succeeds to perfectly modulate her warm tones in the four songs in English on this extended play. From an easy going and well-paced charleston the singer goes to blues, to a lively beguine and finally to a romantic theme of a film with appropriate jazz scales. The Quartet 2 + 2, Nora and Paola Orlandi, Massimo Cini and Enzo Gioieni, supports the singer with backing vocals. Excellent performances by musicians conducted by Gianni Ferrio whose names  are impossible to mention being uncredited anywhere, unless to guess with the risk of a bad impression.  The instruments mainly in the foreground are alto sax (even with short solos), keyboards (organ, piano, harpsichord), guitar, flute (also with a short solo), bass and drums. I do not like to write the usual words or sentences declaiming the great rarity of a record, but this is one case where I cannot make this point strongly enough.
