Description

Here's an extremely rare original RCA reference acetate containing an advance version of "Satellite of Love" that appears on the promotional issue of RCA ?74-096. We aquired the disc directly from a retired music industry professional who worked in RCA's promotion department from 1970 to 1973. Like all of Transformer, the track was produced by David Bowie with Mick Ronson. The record features Bowie's backing vocals in the choruses and the outro. In an article he wrote for Rolling Stone in 2010, Lou commented on Bowie's contribution to the track:

"I like the Ziggy Stardust voice, but he's got a lot of different voices. He's got his crooner voice, when he wants to. And he has a melodic sense that's just well above anyone else in rock & roll. Most people could not sing some of his melodies. He can really go for a high note. Take "Satellite of Love," on my Transformer album. There's a part at the very end where his voice goes all the way up. It's fabulous..."

The disc is in excellent condition, very close to M- with a couple of faint sleeve marks and quiet, excellent playback from start to finish. It includes the original plain sleeve with a couple of technical notes scrawled on it. The single-sided disc is 10" and plays at 45 rpm.
