Description

LUCAS & MIKE COTTON SOUND “Step Out of Line” RARE Aussie ASTOR 7”, UK northern soul mod dancer

Lucas and The Mike Cotton Sound – Step Out of Line 7” (orig. Australia Astor MONO AP-1366)

Australian Release date: June 1967 (UK Release date: 28 April 1967).

On offer here is a VERY RARE original Australian issue of “Step Out of Line” 7” single by British act LUCAS and THE MIKE COTTON SOUND.  The lead singer BRUCE MacPHERSON LUCAS (real name) was a black American serviceman, who was quite a showman and a fine soul singer.  This single is the first of three in which he is credited with THE MIKE COTTON SOUND (the other two were issued on MGM in 1968).  “Ain’t Love Good, Ain’t Love Proud” is an impressive cover of a single that was originally recorded by Detroit soul artist, TONY CLARKE.
