One of the best 60s albums from vocalist La Lupe – thanks to some extremely tight arrangements from Chico O'Farrill, who really helps maintain a focus on the set! Although some of the tracks here are prone to the emotive modes that Lupe was known for, Chico's forceful backings keep most numbers in a hard-grooving mode – really soaring up with a sense of power that matches that of Lupe, and almost reigns her in a bit more to the overall energy of the group. Rhythms range from bomba, to guaracha, and even a few mellower boleros – but even these have a bit more kick than they might otherwise – and the record features a few nice tracks with "rock" touches, showing an early dose of Latin soul in Lupe's music. Titles include "Alivio", "Take It Easy", "America", "Dominique", "Soy Hijo Del Siboney", and "El Carbonero".
