Led Zeppelin III –1970 Atlantic First Pressing 2401002 Page/Grant red/maroon A5/B5 125/117
This is a copy of the bands first pressing for Led Zeppelin III. Released 05/10/1970
To clarify, it has the following features:
a. Red/Maroon Gatefold, fully laminated
b. Label numbers 2401002
c. Produced by Jimmy Page, Executive Producer Peter Grant in top half of the label
d. Warner Bros Music
e. Matrix numbers end A-5 & B-5
f. Celebration Day correct
Variant number is not known as it has the following runout data:
Side A - 1 2 5 (Stamped, inverted) Do what thou wilt 2401002 A-5
Side B - 1 1 7 (Stamped, inverted) So mote it be 2401002 B-5
The spinning wheel inside the front cover works fine – I have taken pictures of the front with it in different positions to show this.
There are lots of micro scratches on the surface and half a dozen larger ones across both sides.
Original record inner sleeve (a little creased, but can be flattened out.) Laminate to rear has some creases, that have appeared over time.
However, if you are looking to collect a rare early pressing of this great album, this may be the one for you.
