Description

An original 1st press from '76 on UK Swansong. Label design is perfectly consistent with genuine 1st issue. Does NOT mention 'manufactured'. The vinyl comes housed in an original textured & embossed gatefold cover as per 1st issue. These were higher quality and printed in England. Later copies were inferior. Printing quality and construction are all far superior to the reissues. The gatefold includes the photo pages in the interior - affixed. There's also both original quality black inners. So 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition having seen only relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a few vey slight marks per side, one or two light marks - nothing troublesome/noticeable though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation per disc. Intros and inbetweens are really quiet and the audio comes across with super clarity. Playing clean even into those quieter passages too. Moby Dick just plays clean - absolutely great. A couple of crackles at the outset of Rain Song but its a very fine rendition and not too often found sounding this good. A couple of ticks toward the end of the 26minute 'Dazed & Confused'. But nothing that really detracts from a whole side of Jimmy in full effect. No QTR pays as quiet as they come - beautiful. A couple of miniscule ticks midway through. These early copies rarely play as consistently well as this. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex) In super condition and you just don't see the original copies looking this well preserved very often. Those textured surfaces nearly always pick up some handling wear [even the good ones!]. This copy has remarkably well preserved surfaces - a couple of minor thumbnails on the front, but hardly any wear at all. Excellent colour retention inside and out. Those photo pages in the interior are really well preserved. No hidden nasties anywhere. Firm and sharp openings and very little sign of edge wear at all. The spine is 100% intact. The cover retains excellent rigidity. Difficult to beat.
Inners (Ex-) No spits. Slight edge wear. A few thumbprints as is difficult to avoid on this surface.
