Description
EXPLOSIVE 1974 HEAVY PROG/PSYCH JAMMER!
== ENERGY ==
\ Sweden - HARVEST RECORDS - E 062-34983
RARE and SOUGHT after ...Original 1974 first pressing vinyl of little known and highly impressive driving hard rock with jazzy overtones, ENERGY came out of nowhere in the early 70's bursting with ideas dominated by sizzling guitar/keys instrumentation...
Mixing hard rock grit to their jazz rock chops, the stylistic choices made by these obscure Swedes have a sound that fans of the mighty NOBEMBER should enjoy ...and it's the precise sort of hardrock/prog/jazz attack that's increasingly been occupying prime position at Esterdamin HQ ... If the 10:26 long PORTA MARINA doesn't bring you out of your seat, you're dead !
Right off the bat you begin this overdriver with the crackling 'Subtle Forces' -- throbbing bass & pounding precision drums topped by thick organ swells & ripping wah-wah guitar straight from the opening track on Embryo's "Steig Aus"...a tight & highly proficient barrage of "ENERGY." While "Metamorphosis/Impressions" draws the listener in with a moody beginning that suddenly opens up to explosive heaviness erupting with ripping fretboard leads..."Up To Seven" features more of the heavy jams dominated by giant guitar runs while tight complex rhythms provide a killer back beat...As mentioned above "Porta Marina" is the definite highlight with it's textures blending melodic atmospherics igniting serious heavy madness led by wall of sound thunderous guitar splattering leads like machine gun attacks ... this expressive track goes right into the album closer "John" which keeps up the driving heaviness highlighting virtuoso keyboard & guitar runs...
All said, an album not to be taken lightly or missed...

Metamorphosis/Impressions (7:39)
